This late Victorian sword cane has a Dery handle with a silver collar showing worn hallmarks. The hallmarks are for London and the shape suggests a date of around 1890.
The 674mm blade tapers to a needle-sharp point. The superbly balanced blade is in excellent condition. The forte of the blade is etched with a geometric and scrollwork pattern.
The blade sheathes snugly and is held tightly within the body of the cane.
The Derby-style handle of the cane is in good condition with a very small chip at the front. The blade is fixed firmly within the handle with no movement or rattle.
The cane has a brass and steel ferrule that shows minor wear. The body of the cane is in very good condition and is without cracks.
Total length 880mm.
