This rare Ottoman Cavalry sabre has an 84cm pipe-back blade with quill point which is in good condition with a mild salt and pepper patina and minor combat nicks on the first 30cm of the edge. The sabre was sharpened for action and retains its edge.
The spine of the blade is stamped with “ (C ” The ricasso is stamped with Arabic characters identifying the manufacturer and date for 1909. The steel knuckle guard is pierced with the crescent moon and star of the Ottoman Empire. The front of the steel guard is stamped with a punch mark and what looks like the number “3.”
The shaped wooden hilt has a cross-hatched grip and thumb groove which shows mild use related wear.
Over-all this is a fine example of an increasingly hard to find Turkish cavalry sabre.
