WW1 Swiss M1914 Schmidt-Rubin Pioneer Saw Back Bayonet.
Near mint condition M1914 saw-back bayonet for the Schmidt-Rubin 1911 carbine. This bayonet was issued to select troops only. The Model 1914 differs from earlier saw-tooth models by the addition of a bulge at the end of the blade. The blade also has a fuller on only one side.
The 48cm blade is in excellent, as issued condition with only minor scabbard related marks. The ricasso is stamped with the maker's name, "Waffenfabrik Neuhausen." The saw teeth are unused and are very sharp.
The wooden scales are in near mint condition as is the polished steel pommel and cross piece. The cross piece is stamped with the issue number 722637, factory mark and a Swiss cross. The press-stud locking mechanism works perfectly.
The black steel scabbard is in excellent condition as is the leather frog. The scabbard ball finial is marked with the Swiss cross. The original issue leather frog is stamped with the maker's logo and the word "Ausschuss," literally translated as "committee," and a cartouche containing a crowned "M" acceptance mark. The frog also bears unit markings "HT 13 II5."
This is a rare and highly sought after bayonet in fantastic condition.
