As you know, President Trump has decided that all USA citizens must pay import taxes on any items bought from overseas. He has withdrawn the $800 pre-tax allowance on imports and has also cancelled the exemption for antiques.
The amount of import tax payable is dependent on the country of manufacture of the item, NOT where it was bought/imported from.
For example,
The tariff on UK made items is 10% of the total amount, including the shipping fee.
On items manufactured in mainland Europe, the tariff is 15%.
Some countries incur a much higher percentage.
President Trump has insisted that these fees be paid BEFORE the item is imported, or the parcel will be refused entry into the US.
This basically means that Bygone Blades has to collect the US import tax from you and submit it to the carrier, who in turn pay the US customs.
After you have made your purchase, you will receive a separate invoice for the new import tax specific to the item purchased. This will need to be paid before your purchase is shipped.
This Indian No.1 Mk II* pattern bayonet was made at the Rifle Factory, Ishapore (RFI) in November 1941.
The 303mm single-edged blade has a rounded spine and short, 50mm upper edge. The upper edge is what distinguishes the MKII* from the MKII. The blade is in excellent condition with its original blackened finish and factory edge.
The ricasso is stamped with the crowned GRI cypher of King George VI, Emperor of India. Below this is the pattern designation Mk II and the manufacture date, 11 ‘41 above the maker’s mark. R. F. I.
The obverse ricasso bears three inspection/acceptance stamps.
The cross-piece, muzzle ring and bird-beak pommel are in very good condition and retain their original black finish. The locking catch is in crisp working order. The wooden grip scales are in good condition with age and use-related staining. The scales are held firmly in place.
The bayonet is complete with its leather scabbard with steel locket. The scabbard is in very good condition. The leather is strong and is stamped with a maker’s mark and production date. The steel locket and chape retain their original finish with related wear. The bayonet sheathes and draws smoothly and is held firmly within the scabbard.
This is a great example of an Indian WW2 bayonet.
