As you know, President Trump has decided that all USA citizens must pay import taxes on any items bought from overseas. He has withdrawn the $800 pre-tax allowance on imports and has also cancelled the exemption for antiques.
The amount of import tax payable is dependent on the country of manufacture of the item, NOT where it was bought/imported from.
For example,
The tariff on UK made items is 10% of the total amount, including the shipping fee.
On items manufactured in mainland Europe, the tariff is 15%.
Some countries incur a much higher percentage.
President Trump has insisted that these fees be paid BEFORE the item is imported, or the parcel will be refused entry into the US.
This basically means that Bygone Blades has to collect the US import tax from you and submit it to the carrier, who in turn pay the US customs.
After you have made your purchase, you will receive a separate invoice for the new import tax specific to the item purchased. This will need to be paid before your purchase is shipped.
Indian 1970's Vintage clip point yataghan knife. #2511015
This vintage Indian made yataghan knife is of surprisingly good quality for something that was probably made for the 1960-70’s tourist market. The style is somewhere between a traditional kukri and a clip-point Bowie knife. Custom knives of this style sell for many hundreds of pounds.
The 284mm single-edged blade has a flat spine above a single fuller and terminates in a yelman with a clip point. The blade is double-edged for the final 95mm and is in very good condition with only a few small patches of tarnish. The blade retains a sharp edge.
The shaped buffalo horn grip is decorated with three bands of inlaid metal dots and has a brass bolster with a plated steel crosspiece. The tang of the blade is peened through the pommel of the grip. The blade is firm in the hilt.
The knife is complete with its leather covered wooden scabbard with plated steel chape. The leather has scuffs and wear consistent with its age and use. The leather frog strap has perished and torn – the wear and damage to the leather being testament to the age of the knife. The knife sheathes and draws smoothly and is held firmly within the scabbard.
This is a great looking knife, a good talking piece for any collection.
