This WW2 German K98 short dress bayonet was made by Robert Klaas of Solingen.
The 197mm single-edged blade is in good condition and is bright and free of rust or tarnish. The blade shows numerous fine scratches to the plating and some slight speckling on the plating around the ricasso. The ricasso bears the twin storks maker’s mark of Robert Klaas.
The black Bakelite grip scales are held firmly in place by two plated rivets. The chequered scales are in excellent condition. The cross-piece and bird-beak pommel retain their plating and the press-stud locking mechanism is in good working order. There are three tiny spots of tarnish on the underside of the pommel. The blade is firm in the hilt.
The bayonet is complete with its black painted steel scabbard. The scabbard is in great condition with minor loss of paint. The bayonet sheathes and draws smoothly and is held firmly within the scabbard.
This is a good example of a German WW2 dress bayonet.
