This English gentlemen’s root-ball sword cane dates to the early 1900’s and has a 620mm Toledo blade. The blade tapers to a needle-sharp, thrusting point. The blade is in excellent condition and is decorated with a typically Spanish design of foliage, orbs and arches. The decoration retains traces of gilding. The maker’s mark, “Toledo” is stamped on both sides of the forte.
The bamboo root-ball handle is in great condition with marks commensurate with age and use. The blade is set firmly within the handle.
The blade sheathes and is held firmly within the body of the cane. The mouth of the cane is finished with a copper ring. The ring has a pleasant patina but could be polished to a shine.
The cane is in very good condition and has no damage or splits. The foot is finished with a horn ferrule. Both the ferrule and cane show wear and age related marks.
Total length 840mm.

Disclaimer: All sword canes sold by Bygone Blades are sold as historical collectables. They are sold for decorative collectable purposes only. In the United Kingdom and many other countries, it is a serious criminal offence to use a sword cane in public.
