British WW1 Pattern 1907 bayonet made in 1917 by Sanderson of Sheffield. The bayonet was issued for Canadian service.

The 433mm single-edged blade has a long narrow fuller and rounded spine. The edge was factory sharpened. The blade retains its factory edge and blued ricasso and is in excellent condition.

The ricasso is marked with a crown, the pattern date 1907 and the date of manufacture 9 ’17 below which is faintly stamped Sanderson.

The obverse ricasso bears a bend test stamp, War Department arrow and three Enfield inspection stamps.

The crosspiece, muzzle ring, pommel and grip scales are in very good condition. The press-stud catch is in perfect working order. The pommel is stamped with a Canadian government ownership mark, an arrow within a capital C, and a Canadian Navy stamp, although the C N could also denote “Land Forces, Niagra Camp.”

The bayonet is complete with its black leather scabbard with a round frog stud. The scabbard is in very good condition. The steel locket and chape retain their original black finish. The leather is stamped with an Enfield inspection mark, War Department arrow and the maker’s mark, J.W.B. beside the manufacture date of 1917. The stitching is intact and strong, and the bayonet sheathes smoothly and is held firmly within the scabbard.

This is an excellent example of a WW1 pattern 1907 bayonet with Canadian issue markings.
