This 1913 pattern bayonet was made by Remington in the USA. These bayonets were used by both the British and American forces during the First World War.
This bayonet bears the stamps for British issue.
The 16.73 inch 42.3 cm single edged blade has a long, deep fuller and is stamped on the ricasso with the Remington factory mark and 1913, below which is the date February 1917.
The reverse ricasso bears the British broad arrow and inspection stamp.
The wooden grip shows age related wear and is firm. The hilts’ spring mechanism works well.
The bayonet is complete with its original black leather scabbard with steel furniture. The steel chape is stamped “W.J.H” over a “B.” The scabbard shows age related wear but is firm and the stitching is intact. Also present is the original leather bayonet frog with the British broad arrow over the number 22 stamped on the reverse. The frog is in poor condition but a rare item.
This is a genuine item with great character for the serious bayonet collector.
