This stag handled Scottish dirk was made in the early 20th Century, probable for a family member going off to fight in the trenches of WW1.
The 305mm blade is single-edged with a scalloped spine. The blade terminates in a double-edged clip point. A half-hearted attempt was made to put fullers in the blade. The sturdy blade is in good condition with some very shallow pitting at the ricasso. The blade retains a fighting edge.
The stag antler grip is finished with a brass cross piece, bolster and pommel cap. The blade is firm in the hilt.
This is an interesting and poignant example of a World War One period Highland fighting dirk.
