This scarce pre-regulation British William IV bandsman’s short sword has a 530mm single edged, slightly curved blade with a flat spine and spear point. The blade has a wide, two-thirds length fuller on both sides and is sharpened for the last 18cm of the top edge. The blade is in excellent condition.
The finely detailed lion head hilt has an acanthus mane and foliate languets and is stamped with the regimental marks, “2C” over “14.” The brass hilt is also stamped with the date 1832.
The sword is without its scabbard but is in excellent condition and retains the original leather blade washer.
This is another hard to find British sword.
