This British root-ball sword cane has an ornate silver collar bearing a Birmingham hallmark for 1898.

The 668mm blade tapers to a needle-sharp point. The superbly balanced blade is in great condition with small patches of tarnish at the base of the blade.

The blade sheathes snugly within the body of the cane.

The bamboo root ball handle of the cane has a great patina from use and darkening to the underside resulting from the heat used to shape the crook. The cane has a brass ferrule that has worn through at the bottom. The wear to the ferrule indicates that the cane was in regular use as a walking stick.

The cane is in very good condition and is without cracks. There are a few minor dings and some wear to the silver collar consistent with its age. The silver collar has a maker’s mark but it in not one I am familiar with.

Total length 895mm.
