British No 4. MKII* spike bayonet made between 1942 and 1944. The bayonet was made by Prince-Smith & Stells of Keighly, Yorkshire.

The left side of the socket block is stamped with the pattern designation and the maker’s mark, P. S. K.  A War Department arrow is stamped to the left of the pattern designation.

This bayonet was polished for parade and ceremonial purposes and is in good condition. Polished or plated ceremonial No.4 bayonets were usually issued to Guards or a regiment’s colour party and the plating or polishing was done post production at unit level. The socket block scratches and wear consistent with age and use.

The bayonet is complete with its plated/polished Mk I scabbard. The scabbard throat bears the production date 1942 as well as the pattern designation and a broad arrow.
