British WW2 No.4 MkII* bayonet made by the Lewisham Engineering Company. Lewisham Engineering produced only 84,566 of the No.4 Mk II* spike bayonet between 1942 and 1943, making this bayonet quite scarce.
The socket block is stamped with the pattern designation and Lewisham Engineering maker’s mark, “L ENG” along with the company’s war time dispersal code S376. The War Department’s arrow is stamped to the right of the maker’s mark.
The bayonet is complete with a rare Mk II parallel sided, light weight steel scabbard. Only 25,000 of these Mk II scabbards were produced by the Franco-British Electrical Company. The company’s dispersal code, S191 is stamped on the bottom of the scabbard.
