This is a British diplomatic corps cut steel small sword dating to the first quarter of the 20th Century.
The 785mm, hollow ground tri-form blade is 15mm wide at the shoulder and is in mint condition. The blade is beautifully etched foliate scrollwork and laurels on a matt background.
The beautiful cut steel hilt is in excellent condition and decorated with the faceted steel beads that give the sword its name. The steel beads were cut (faceted) like gems so as to sparkle in the sunshine and reflected lighting. The blade is firm in the hilt.
This beautiful smallsword is complete with its original leather scabbard with steel locket and chape. The locket incorporates a cut steel, flower-like frog stud. The leather is in overall good condition with wear above the chape and a small repair that is almost invisible. The sword sheathes and draws smoothly and is held firmly within the scabbard.
This is a very fine example of a turn of the century diplomats’ cut steel small sword.
