As you know, President Trump has decided that all USA citizens must pay import taxes on any items bought from overseas. He has withdrawn the $800 pre-tax allowance on imports and has also cancelled the exemption for antiques.
The amount of import tax payable is dependent on the country of manufacture of the item, NOT where it was bought/imported from.
For example,
The tariff on UK made items is 10% of the total amount, including the shipping fee.
On items manufactured in mainland Europe, the tariff is 15%.
Some countries incur a much higher percentage.
President Trump has insisted that these fees be paid BEFORE the item is imported, or the parcel will be refused entry into the US.
This basically means that Bygone Blades has to collect the US import tax from you and submit it to the carrier, who in turn pay the US customs.
After you have made your purchase, you will receive a separate invoice for the new import tax specific to the item purchased. This will need to be paid before your purchase is shipped.
British 1st Pattern Fairbairn-Sykes Commando Knife. WW2. #2605001
This rare 1st pattern Fairbairn-Sykes commando knife was made by the Wilkinson Sword Company between November 1940 and August 1941.
The 172mm double-edged blade has a raised medial ridge and tapers to a narrow spear point. The hand-ground blade is 22.54mm wide at the ricasso. The distinctive square ricasso is etched with the legend, “The F-S Fighting Knife.” The obverse ricasso is etched with the maker’s details, Wilkinson Sword Co. Ltd. London.
The blade is in generally good condition with some patches of tarnish and cleaned pitting.
The knurled grip is in good condition with mild use related wear to the nickel plating. The grip is 21.4mm in diameter at its widest and is 122mm long. The recurved crosspiece is 3.25mm thick and has some tarnish and shallow pitting on one side.
The knife is complete with its brown leather sheath with nickel plated chape. The top section of the scabbard was intentionally removed. The stitching is intact and tight and the leather remains strong. The knife sheathes and draws smoothly and is held firmly within the scabbard.
This is a good example of an original 1st pattern F-S knife used during WW2.
