This third pattern Fairbairn Sykes fighting knife is stamped with the date and War Department arrow.

The 176mm double-edged blade is in excellent condition. The blade is 25mm wide at the shoulder with a raised medial ridge and terminates in a spear point.

The ridged alloy grip is in good condition with use related loss to the black paint finish. The grip is 22mm in diameter at its widest and is 116mm long. The crosspiece is stamped with the War Department arrow and the date, 1943.

The knife is complete with an original WW2 sheath. The leather sheath is in good condition and retains its trouser tabs and the elastic retaining band. The elastic has perished and there is stretching to the retaining band consistent with its age and use. The leather and stitching of the sheath are sound.

This is a very good example of a sought-after third pattern Fairbairn Sykes fighting knife.
