As you know, President Trump has decided that all USA citizens must pay import taxes on any items bought from overseas. He has withdrawn the $800 pre-tax allowance on imports and has also cancelled the exemption for antiques.
The amount of import tax payable is dependent on the country of manufacture of the item, NOT where it was bought/imported from.
For example,
The tariff on UK made items is 10% of the total amount, including the shipping fee.
On items manufactured in mainland Europe, the tariff is 15%.
Some countries incur a much higher percentage.
President Trump has insisted that these fees be paid BEFORE the item is imported, or the parcel will be refused entry into the US.
This basically means that Bygone Blades has to collect the US import tax from you and submit it to the carrier, who in turn pay the US customs.
After you have made your purchase, you will receive a separate invoice for the new import tax specific to the item purchased. This will need to be paid before your purchase is shipped.
British 1913 Pattern Bayonet. Remington 1917. #2608011
This British Pattern 1913 Mk 1 sword bayonet for the Pattern 1914 rifle is in near mint condition. The P1913 bayonet was officially introduced into British service on the 21st June 1916 and was made under contract in the USA by Remington and Winchester.
The 433mm blade has a deep single fuller on both sides and a rounded spine. The blade is in near mint condition. The blued ricasso is stamped with the pattern date of 1913, the production date of 3 ’17 (March, 1917) and the Remington maker’s mark. The obverse ricasso bears the crowned inspection stamp of the US based British inspector and the UK War Department ownership arrow. The original American inspection marks have been removed and over-stamped.
The cross guard and pommel retain their original blueing and the wooden grip scales are in great condition. The press-stud locking mechanism works perfectly.
The bayonet is complete with its leather scabbard with teardrop frog stud. The scabbard is in excellent condition. The locket and chape retain their original finish. The leather retains its original finish and the stitching is intact and tight. The leather bears an Enfield factory inspection mark, a Broad Arrow and the production date of 1924. It is interesting to note the use of a locket with a teardrop frog stud despite the move to round frog studs from 1916. The bayonet sheathes and draws smoothly and is held firmly within the scabbard.
This is a near mint example of an American made British P1913 bayonet.
