British WW1 Pattern 1907 bayonet made in 1918 by the Wilkinson Sword Company, London.
The 436mm single-edged blade has a long narrow fuller and rounded spine. The edge was factory sharpened. The blade is in good condition and retains its fighting edge with some tiny edge nicks. The ricasso retains its blued finish.
The ricasso is marked with a crown and G.R. (George V), the pattern date 1907 above the date of manufacture 2 ’18 (February 1918). The manufacturer’s name, “Wilkinson” is stamped at the base of the ricasso.
The obverse ricasso bears a bend test stamp and three factory inspection stamps.
The crosspiece, muzzle ring and pommel retain their original blued finish and are in excellent condition. The press-stud catch is in perfect working order and the grip scales are in good used condition. Both grip scales bear faint government inspection stamps.
The bayonet is complete with its black leather scabbard with a teardrop frog stud. The steel locket and chape retain their original black finish. The stitching is intact and strong and the bayonet is held firmly within the scabbard.
This is a great example of a Wilkinson made WW1 P1907 bayonet.
