Iconic British WW1 Pattern 1907 bayonet made in 1917 by the Wilkinson Sword company.

The 436mm, single edged blade has a long narrow fuller and rounded spine. The edge was service sharpened. The blade is in excellent condition. The ricasso retains its original blueing and is marked with a Georgian crown over the pattern date 1907 and the date of manufacture 10 ’17 below which is stamped Wilkinson.

The obverse ricasso bears the War Department broad arrow, bend test stamp and three Enfield inspection and acceptance stamps.

The crosspiece, muzzle ring and pommel retain their original blued finish and are in excellent condition. The press-stud catch is in perfect working order. The pommel has a clearing hole, a modification that was introduced around 1916. The grip scales are in good condition and are stamped with a crowned Wilkinson inspection mark. The scales are held firmly in place by two original screws.

The bayonet is complete with its 1915 dated leather scabbard with a teardrop frog stud. The scabbard is in good condition. The leather is stamped MGR with a 7 over 15, presumably the date July 1915. The steel locket and chape retain their original blueing. The locket bears an arrow and EFD stamp. The throat of the locket is stamped with the cancelled issue number 602.

This is an excellent example of the iconic British World War One Enfield rifle bayonet, made by the Wilkinson Sword Company.
