British WW1 Pattern 1907 bayonet made in June 1910 by Robert Mole of Birmingham. Mole produced only 60,000 1907 pattern bayonets, many of which never came home from the war. Mole made P1907 bayonets are rare today.

The 432mm single-edged blade has a long narrow fuller and rounded spine. The edge was factory sharpened. The blade is in good condition with cleaned, very shallow pitting at the point.

The ricasso retains its blueing and is marked with the Royal cypher of King Edward VII, the pattern date 1907 and the date of manufacture 6 ’10 below which is stamped MOLE.

The obverse ricasso bears a bend test stamp, War Department arrow and three Mole factory inspection stamps. An additional date of 1923 is also stamped on the obverse ricasso with an accompanying Enfield inspection stamp. 1923 would be the date that the clearing hole was drilled into the pommel and the hooked quillon removed. The absence of a second re-work stamp suggests that these modifications were carried out at the same time.

The crosspiece, muzzle ring and pommel retain their blued finish and are in good condition. The press-stud catch is in perfect working order. The grip scales are in good condition with use-related wear and staining.

The bayonet is complete with its leather scabbard with a teardrop frog stud. The leather is strong and the stitching along the seam is intact. The steel locket and chape retain their blueing with some wear. The bayonet sheathes and draws smoothly and is held firmly within the scabbard.

This is a very good example of a rare MOLE made P1907 bayonet.
