British WW1 Pattern 1907 bayonet made in 1915 by J. A. Chapman. Chapman produced 300,000 1907 pattern bayonets.

The 430mm single-edged blade has a long narrow fuller and rounded spine. The edge was factory sharpened. The blade is in near mint condition.

The ricasso retains its original blueing and is marked with the pattern date 1907 and the date of manufacture 12 ’15 below which is stamped Chapmans’ JAC makers’ mark.

The obverse ricasso bears a bend test stamp, War Department arrow and five Enfield inspection and re-issue stamps along with two additional date stamps for 1919 and 1923.

The crosspiece, muzzle ring and pommel retain their original blued finish and are in excellent condition. The press-stud catch is in perfect working order. The pommel is stamped with the issue number 833. The grip scales are in excellent condition.

The bayonet is complete with its 1916 dated brown leather scabbard with a teardrop rog stud. The scabbard is in excellent condition. The steel locket and chape retain their original blueing. The leather is stamped with a crowned inspection mark and the makers name, G. G. Bussey & Co. of Peckham, London with the date 1916. This is quite a scarce scabbard maker. The stitching is intact and strong and the bayonet sheathes smoothly and is held firmly within the scabbard.

This is a near mint example of a Chapman made P1907 bayonet complete with an excellent scabbard from a scarce maker.
