The Austrian M1867 bayonet was officially shortened in 1877 because it was too unwieldy when fixed to a musket.
This bayonet is in reasonable to good condition for its 140+ years. The 47 cm blade has been polished and has areas of deep pitting. The blade is 32 mm wide at the ricasso and has a spine thickness of 8 mm. The ricasso bears remnants of the maker's mark and the Austrian eagle.
The steel hilt furniture has pitting and an even salt and pepper patina. The cross piece is unit marked. The external spring locking mechanism works perfectly.
Black painted steel scabbard has two minor dents and the internal wood lining has perished. The internal spring catches are present and hold the blade nicely in the scabbard. The scabbard is in over-all good condition.
