Stevens Savage produced around 1.25 million of the No.4 Mk II spike bayonets, most of which were supplied to Britain along with No.4 rifles under the “Lend-Lease” agreement. This bayonet is identical to the British No.4 Mk II spike bayonet. Only the markings are different.

The socket block is stamped with the pattern designation and a deeply struck Stevens savage maker’s mark, an S within a square. The locking mechanism bears a similar maker’s stamp. The bayonet is in excellent condition.

The bayonet is complete with a scarce American M5 scabbard with integral webbing frog. The M5 scabbard was produced by the Beckwith Manufacturing Company, New Hampshire, known during World War II as Victory Plastics. The Bakelite scabbard is marked on the back with the Victory Plastics VP maker’s mark and is in very good condition.
