The Samburu are a pastoral warrior tribe from Northern Kenya. The warriors of the Samburu people are known as Moran. This 19th Century Moran’s spear is an excellent example and has a total length of 217cm. The spear has a central wooden section that is removable.
The leaf-shaped blade is 185mm in length and 50mm wide with a raised medial ridge. The total length of the forged spearhead and its socketed tang is 950mm.
The socketed spike is 975mm long.
This is a fantastic example of a 19th Century Samburu warriors’ fighting spear.
