This heavy-duty double-pronged fishing spear dates to the 19th Century and is of a type used in Central and Eastern Africa. It is thought that this particular example comes from Ethiopia.

The forged iron head is 400mm in total length. The twin leaf-shaped blades have a raised medial rib and are approximately 120mm in length.

A robustly forged piece with the great patina of old iron.
