This 1902 pattern American Army Officers’ sword bears the name H. A. Brickley. Henry Augustus Brickley attended Harvard University before enrolling in the infantry at the outbreak of WW1. Brickley passed out of Westpoint Academy in 1914. He saw action in France during WW1 and was promoted to the rank of Captain. After the war he became military attaché to Romania. Henry Brickley re-enlisted in the army at the outbreak of WWII.

The swords’ finely etched 36.25 inch / 92 cm curved blade was made by Weyersberg and Kirschbaum of Solingen, Germany and is decorated with fine scroll work, furled flags and crossed cannon as well as the American eagle. The blade is in excellent condition with only very mild age tarnishing. The blade is firm in the hilt.

The barred hilt retains almost all its original plating and the horn grip is in excellent condition.
The plated steel scabbard retains over 90% of its original plating.

This is a very fine example of an early 1902 pattern American army sword.
